What is Barktoberfest?
Barktoberfest is a rescue appreciation event to celebrate the partnership between Orange County Animal Services and the rescue community. Animal Services works with more than 50 rescue partners that aid in the recovery and adoption of many homeless animals. Barktoberfest is our way of saying “thank you” to these rescue partners by giving them an outlet to network with the community, raise awareness for their cause and find loving, forever homes for their adoptable animals. This German themed event attracts families and individuals who are interested in pets. This is a great outlet for pet-friendly businesses and other vendors who wish to interact with these members of the community.
How was last year’s Barktoberfest?
The event put the “wow” in “bow wow!” Last year’s event drew in approximately 1,000 people and helped raise awareness for the rescue groups and vendors. More than 20 animals were adopted! You can check out pictures of last year’s event here.
When and where is Barktoberfest?
Barktoberfest is taking place this year on Saturday, September 29 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The event will be located in the same spot as last year – the north east grassy area of Lake Eola. This area is right across the street from Panera Bread at the corner of Robinson and Eola Drive.
What other activities will be available?
Along with adoptable animals and fantastic German cuisine, Barktoberfest will also feature a “Kidz Zone” complete with bounce house, face painter and balloon artist.
